Guardianes del Golfo is a documentary miniseries and community-centered storytelling initiative highlighting coastal and Indigenous communities threatened by the proposed Saguaro LNG Project—a large-scale fossil fuel expansion that would export liquefied natural gas through the Gulf of California, one of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems on Earth.
Through a digital storytelling strategy, the project amplifies the voices of coastal residents and environmental lawyers from Nuestro Futuro A.C., who are leading the first legal case in Mexico to argue for whales as legal subjects and for the recognition of nature’s intrinsic rights in Baja California.
Using documentary films, immersive art, social media, and a culminating exhibition, the series calls for action: to protect our seas, challenge extractivism, and inspire a generation to imagine a future where nature and justice coexist.
Artworks from our campaign will be incorporated into the legal case as complementary evidence, following guidance from the attorneys
